If you’re unsure as to what will fit your needs, our friendly and experienced Langlitz staff is more than happy to help.
One of the most important factors in getting custom leathers is measurements. If coming into the shop to have one of us measure you is an option, we would love to see you. For those that can’t manage to come visit us, we have step by step instructions for taking measurements for you. And as always, please feel free to call with any questions or for general guidance.
Once we are satisfied that your measurements are accurate, John makes several notes as to how to make the custom fit accurate. Then it’s handed to one of our two cutters, where the first “tool” to come in contact with the leather, is their skilled hands. They first inspect every square inch of each hide for anything other than 100% quality. No laser pattern projections, or “clicker” cuts. It’s all done by hand – one piece at a time, from stiff paper patterns (handed down from Ross himself), with all the custom fit calculations that our experienced cutters have taken into account.
We are proud to work with high quality leather from United States tanneries. The cutters generally end up rejecting about a third of the leather that we get from the tanneries. Scars and such that the animal originally installed, are not seen as “defects” unless the thickness or integrity of the leather is in question at all. When you order a Langlitz, you are getting the best of the best leather.
Next we cut the heavy duty nylon lining, along with genuine 3M Thinsulate® thermal insulation if desired. Then each garment is sewn, start to finish by one seamstress, on our vintage PFAFF sewing machines. No piece-meal work here. It’s not an easy job, and the ladies take great pride in their work, as they should. They put their initials inside each garment, along with the garment’s unique serial number.
When completed, each garment needs to pass two separate inspection processes before being deemed deliverable to it’s new happy owner. Our customer’s satisfaction is guaranteed. ….and usually surpassed. Check out our testimonials page to hear from others about their experience.
You can either pick up your garment from our shop, or have us ship it to you. If it doesn’t fit right or there is something wrong, let us know and we would be happy to fix it. We stick by our guarantee and we truly mean it when we say “we’re not happy unless you’re happy.”
We prefer to have a high level of personal interaction with our customers. The theory is that the more contact and personal attention we give you, the better we can fulfill your needs and desires. So please, don’t hesitate to call, email, fax, or even drop by. It is important to us that you are able to wear your leathers with pride.
